What is a Network Pharmacy?
A network pharmacy is one that contracts with a Medicare Part D prescription drug
plan such as SilverScript to provide covered prescription drugs for plan members.
Network pharmacies allow Medicare Part D members to get their prescription drug
benefits at a reduced cost. Generally, your prescription medications will only be
covered if they are filled at a plan’s network pharmacy.
In contrast, an out-of-network pharmacy is a pharmacy that does not have a contract
with a specific plan. If you choose an out-of-network pharmacy to get your prescription
medications filled, you will most likely have to pay more out-of-pocket expense
than if you filled them at a Medicare network pharmacy.
