Medicare Part D Copay and Coinsurance
If your Part D plan requires you to pay a Part D yearly deductible, you will pay
the full amount for your prescriptions up until the time you have met your deductible
before the plan begins to share the cost of your prescriptions. When sharing the
cost of your prescriptions, the amount of your Medicare Part D costs is usually in
the form of a fixed amount (Medicare Part D copay), or a percentage of the drug cost
(Medicare Part D coinsurance).
Be sure to consider whether the plan requires you to pay a copay or a coinsurance amount when filling your prescriptions, as the difference may affect your out-of-pocket expenses.
